Easy Smoked Creamer Potatoes: How to Make Homemade Smoked Potatoes
Creamer potatoes taste amazing on their own, but not everyone has a professional smoker grill to work with. Fortunately, it’s so easy to add that awesome flavor to your Creamer potatoes at home and make your own homemade smoked potatoes. Smoking potatoes adds a whole new level of flavor to this already delicious vegetable.
How to Make a Homemade Smoke Pouch
Wood Chips Equals Flavor
When it comes to smoking, it’s all about the wood. Wood equals flavor. My personal favorite is applewood. You can find wood chips at any local hardwood or barbecue store. Here’s how to make your own easy homemade smoke pouch.
-
Soak Wood Chips Before Using
Before you make the pouch, make sure you soak your wood chips. Put them in water for about 30 to 60 minutes before cooking. This helps slow down the burning, and really generates that flavor.
-
Make the Smoke Pouch
Place wood chips direct on your foil pouch, after soaking. Then fold over like you would with a foil pouch, but don’t wrap it as tightly. You want to make sure you have space for the smoke to release. Next up you fold the sides, flip it over, and poke a bunch of ventilation holes with a fork to ensure you have a good space for the smoke to release.
-
Place the Smoke Pouch on the Grill
Heat your grill to 400° F, prepare your Creamer potatoes how you like and put them on the grill, cooking on indirect heat. Place the pouch on the flame diffuser (some call it a deflector, heat shield, or burner plates), and if you don’t have one in your grill then just place it over indirect heat (not directly over the flame). Let them cook for about 20 to 25 minutes, and your potatoes will be ready to go!
Smoking might take a little bit longer, but it’s a new and easy way to use your grill. Smoke also adds new bold flavor to your food, and I like that!
