What makes a Creamer?

Creamer potatoes are all we do at The Little Potato Company, and our love for them makes us pretty giddy. We believe the more you know about our Creamers, the more you’ll love them too.

Since it’s February and there’s potato love in the air, we thought we’d spread the love and share the knowledge with this true or false fun quiz.

Test yourself—how well do you really know the Creamer of the crop?

Creamer potatoes taste like other potatoes.

False. Creamer potatoes are known for their creamy texture and superior, buttery taste. Each variety has its own delectable flavor, ranging from sweet to earthy to exotic. These are authentic and unique flavors, carefully preserved within our specialty premium varieties. Regular potatoes, on the other hand, have been bred for a large size and have become bland in the process. That’s why you need to add a ton of toppings (and calories) to make them taste good.

Creamer potatoes are more nutritious than your average large potato.

True. Unlike large potatoes, Creamer potatoes have thin, delicate skins that are meant for eating and are packed full of important minerals and nutrients. As a whole, Creamer Potatoes are a highly nutritious vegetable. Even compared to other foods, our Creamers shine – with more potassium than a serving of banana plus all kinds of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants too.  Just as important is what they don’t contain: no gluten, no fat, no cholesterol, no sodium and no GMOs. All of this in an adorable 60-calorie package.

Creamer Potatoes are easier to prepare than larger potatoes.

True. Much easier in fact. Every product from The Little Potato Company contains farm-fresh Creamer potatoes already washed and no peeling required. With no prep needed, you can save loads of time in the kitchen. And due to their little size, Creamer Potatoes cook up much faster too, going from the package to the plate in as little as five minutes.

Creamer Potatoes are also known as new potatoes or baby potatoes.

False. Some other small potatoes are actually immature babies of big potato varieties. They are simply harvested long before they ripen. That’s why they’re sometimes called baby or new potatoes. But our Creamers are in a class of their own. They are a unique type of potato that only grows to that perfect, one-bite size.

Creamer Potatoes are harvested when they’re mature and at their best.

True. Real Creamer Potatoes – which is all we grow at The Little Potato Company –are harvested only when they’re at the peak of maturity. That means they’re at the peak of their nutrition and taste too. Mature Creamer Potatoes are smaller than a golf ball, ranging from 19 mm (3/4”) to 41 mm (1-5/8”) in diameter.

There are a few different kinds of Creamer Potatoes.

False. In reality, there are a ton. Looking at our proprietary varieties, you’ll find a wide range of fun and tasty Creamer varietals to add different colors, flavors and balanced nutrition to your plate. And we’re adding new ones all the time, exclusive to The Little Potato Company.
